Academy of Legal Leadership – Coming Soon!

I’m super excited about the new Academy of Legal Leadership.

It is launching soon and will be a fully functional online school aimed at legal graduates who want to super charge their legal careers.

All the programs have global relevance and draw on my years of experience as a course designer and lecturer for Sydney University’s prestigious Masters of Project Management, as well as the College of Law.

Our standout courses centre around Legal Project Management and Legal Portfolio Management.

These disciplines provide innovative approaches to managing legal matter and are immediately relevant to all legal professionals and senior legal support staff.

Academic rigour has been applied to the development of  programs that combine theory, frameworks and practical skills.

It will be possible to study the theory component only or to extend this knowledge through applied learning.

Participants can choose to become fully accredited practising Legal Project Managers or practising Advanced Legal Project Managers.

The LPM Fundamentals Certificate covers the core legal project management disciplines – Matter Scoping, Matter Scheduling, Matter Costing, Monitoring & Controlling. These are covered within the context of scoping, planning and executing legal matters. This is the starting point for understanding and adopting legal project management within legal teams. LPM frameworks and working practices are expected by clients and stakeholders and support more satisfying legal careers. This course is of benefit to all lawyers working in any sized law firm or in-house team.

The LPM Practitioner certification is the benchmark for any lawyers wishing to demonstrate genuine competency within the core disciplines of Legal Project Management. It requires the completion of the LPM Fundamentals Certificate, 85% pass marks in the theoretical exams and the submission of an evidence based portfolio or work products that meet minimum competency criteria. Graduates of the LPM Fundamentals Certificate have two years to complete the LPM Practitioner  certification and need to be actively working on legal matters.

The LPM Advanced Certificate covers the advanced legal project management disciplines – Matter Resourcing and People Management, Matter Quality and Knowledge Management, Matter Communication and Stakeholder Management, and an introduction to Legal Portfolio Management. These are required by more senior legal professionals when managing legal teams to successfully deliver legal outcomes using legal project management principles. This course is of benefit to all legal team leaders working in any sized law firm or in-house team.

The LPM Advanced Practitioner certification is the benchmark for senior lawyers managing teams in the delivery of legal matters. It requires the demonstration of competency within the advanced disciplines of Legal Project Management. Pre-requisites include the completion of the LPM Fundamentals Certificate and the LPM Practitioner certification, as well as the LPM Advanced Certificate. It requires 85% pass marks in the theoretical exams and the submission of an evidence based portfolio or work products that meet minimum competency criteria. Graduates of the LPM Advanced Certificate have four years to complete the LPM Advanced Practitioner certification and need to be actively working on legal matters.
